News Energy independence foreseen for Tajikistan

The President of Tajikistan Mr. Rahmon promised the energy independence of his country in the coming years. He announced that 15 mini hydropower plants have begun operation in the country in January-March this year, that a significant amount of money will be allocated within the next four years for rehabilitation and modernization of the Norak hydropower plant, and that the Roghun station will be constructed. He also noted that 87 oil and gas deposits in the country were currently being explored and developed in cooperation with a number of foreign companies.
