News EBRD-EIB carbon fund to buy carbon credits in Armenia

Ten hydro power stations in Armenia will benefit from the international emission trading market thanks to a carbon credits purchase by the EBRD-EIB Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund (MCCF). A press release from the European Investment Bank (EIB) said the MCCF agreed to buy carbon credits from a group of ten small hydropower plants, bundled into a single project under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) framework.

The project will help the plants, each with electric capacity below 3.6 megawatts, to reduce transaction and documentation costs.
