INOGATE Programme
Commission allocates €40 million to support multi-country projects in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus
The European Commission has approved the 2009 Annual Action Programme that applies to the seven partner states along the EU's Eastern border, according to a Commission press release. Each of the projects will benefit at least two of the partner states, with the funds being committed from the 2009 EC budget under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner said she was pleased about the allocation of this assistance package. In her words, the partner countries at the EU Eastern borders share many challenges. “A joint approach to tackling these challenges,” she added, “could help enhancing confidence, thus contributing to increased security, stability, and prosperity in the region."
