News China may invest in Kyrgyzstan hydro-electric projects

"China is ready to invest $200 million for the construction of three hydroelectric stations in Kyrgyzstan," Kyrgyz Energy Minister Osmonbek Artykbekov stated at the press-conference today.

Chinese companies are conducting negotiations and the memorandum of agreement about construction of three hydroelectric stations with total capacity of 165 megawatt on Boom and Kemin rivers will be signed in the near future, he said. "It is very important for us, especially in winter," the Minister noted.
